God and the Law of Attraction - Pt.2
A Law of Attraction View of God
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”. (Genesis 1:1)
I’ve always been intrigued by this Bible passage because for me it was always shrouded in mystery. I didn’t doubt that it happened but I wanted to know how. How did God create something out of nothing?
I’m an insatiably curious person and have been my whole life. I remember being told as a child by some well meaning adults (thankfully not my parents) not to question this but to just accept it. Well, hearing that just made me question it even more. It frustrated me that people would prefer to tell me not to question something instead of just admitting that they didn’t know the answer. Maybe they thought it was wrong to question anything that had to do with God. Who knows? Not me, I thought it was a good question and deserved an answer. I’m no longer a child but I’m just as inquisitive as I was back then. I still want to know and experience things and get to their deeper meaning.
I think that is why I’ve enjoyed my study of the Law of Attraction so much. It has brought me to a deeper understanding of what I was taught about God through the Bible. I see no conflict between God and the Law of Attraction because I see everything as being connected. I see everything as being a part of God. This realization has allowed me to look through more compassionate, more loving eyes at the world around me and those in it. It has also provided me a way to live a more creative and empowering life experience.
So, back to the original question – how did God create something out of nothing? If there was no visible universe, no other life that we know of, then how did the first something get created? In keeping with my statement from Part 1 of this series I will repeat that I don’t know all there is to know about God and the workings of the Universe but I do have a belief about it which is what we all have – a belief. I believe that our universe and everything in it first began with a thought.
According to the Science of Mind teachings God is Mind, Spirit, Intelligence. The invisible power which makes all things out of Itself, by an inner action of its own thought upon Itself.
Wallace Wattles, in “The Science of Getting Rich” calls God the One Substance, the Original Substance, the Thinking Substance and says that the desire you feel for a rich, full life experience is God seeking to express Himself through you.
Abraham-Hicks refers to God as Source Energy and says that we are physically focused extensions of God (Source Energy) and that we are on the leading edge of thought. Abraham says that “the universe is ever expanding, and you are a point of light expanding in this system. Life (God) summoning through you is what it's all about -- not the completion of anything."
God, Source Energy, Mind, the Original Substance – whatever you want to call it - is the great reason behind everything. Being All-Knowledge it must know Itself and everything it creates. Being All-Presence means we can contact it anytime, anywhere. Being All-Knowing and operating through the power of the Word (thought) means it knows everything we think. It is apparent that the process of creation is an inner thought process.
God makes all things out of Himself through self-knowing or thinking. God thinks, or knows and that which He thinks or knows appears from Himself and is made out of Himself.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1)
When we know that God is, we have a principle that is exact and is going to correspond to our thought about it. Remember that it is always done to us as we believe. We must believe that our word is law and that there is something that takes our thought and completes it for us without fail. We must also have faith and by that I mean positive mental activity or positive thinking.
“All things are possible to him who believes” (Mark 9:23)
“It will be done just as you believed it would” (Matt 8:13)
“We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Cor. 5:7)
“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matt 17:20)
When we realize that we are like God, because we are made out of God, we will realize that our word (thought) also has power. If we realize that there is only One Mind then it follows that our word (thought) is the activity of that One Mind in our consciousness and that the energy that creates worlds is the same energy that flows through us.
The Law of Attraction says that you create your reality through your thoughts. God and the Law of Attraction, sounds like a perfect match to me.
